I cannot believe that it is already the end of this truly awesome year and before I get down to how my overall year was on the personal front, I decided to write about what I felt about the entertainment part of 2014. I got inspired by Holly‘s recent blog post.
Books :
Being passionate about books, I try to make it a point that I read at least one book in a month. Like the past two years, even this year I challenged myself on Goodreads’ 2014 Reading Challenge but sadly I could only read 34 goods out of 75 😦
I do have about 25-30 books in my room waiting to be read, but since my Masters course began I simply never got the time or the strength to start a new book till a week back and now I have started reading The very famous and classic LOTR! I know it is shocking but I really haven’t read the books yet! (Oh and for those who don’t know what what LOTR stands for… *sigh … The Lord of the Rings Series! I have started reading from the first book : The Hobbit, I am loving it!
I also read some really nice books, like, The Host by Stephanie Meyer, The Divergent series by Veronica Roth, the Fault in Our Starts by John Green.
Films :
I saw a hell lot of movies this year compared to last year but also I didn’t see some of the movies that were said to be the best, like Interstellar. The movies that I did see can be listed as follows :
- X-Men : The Days of Future Past
- How to Train Your Dragon 2
- Divergent
- The Fault in Our Stars
- Mary Kom
- Big Hero 6
- Guardians of The Galaxy
- The Hunger Games : Mockingjay Part 1
- PK
- and many more which I cannot remember 😛
Among all of these, though each one was a great movie, the one movie that I loved and would watch again and again, is definitely PK. It was a lovely satire on the various religions and on the people who mislead innocent people on the name of religion. It is a story of an alien who is lost on this planet and as he tries to go back to his planet, he raises questions that no one has ever questioned. It is a must watch movie!
Tv Shows :
Though I had decided to start watching shows like Game of Thrones and Sherlock this year, I couldn’t. But I did manage to follow the latest season of Castle and as usual it did not disappoint me… with the previous season ending on a horrifying cliffhanger and the next season starting 4-5 months later with a great comeback story!
This is a kinda short and hurried blog but I’ll blog more soon…. especially about PK! 😀
What were your favourites this year?
Ah you did better than me with reading this year. I got an email from Goodreads saying that I’d completed 7 books this year. It’s more than usual but still not a lot.
I also watched X-Men and Guardians of the Galaxy. They were both amazing films.
A highly recommend Sherlock. I hope you get a chance to watch it in 2015. 🙂
34 are a lot of books though! Because of my masterscourse I could not read that much either. I wanted to read 50 but am probably arund 35 books as well 🙂 I also read the hobbit this yeah, and I hope you get to finish Lotr.
We watched a lot of the same movies! I really need to watch big hero 6 though, only read great things about it! And I recommend Sherlock, it is my favourite tv series. 😀
I loved The Fault In Our Stars. I loved the book and the movie. I think the movie was a very good adaptation of the book. I’m glad I saw it. 😀 I actually didn’t read any books last year, not that I remember. 😦 I know every time we talk I always tell you that I should be reading… but I just haven’t had time to pick up a book.
I did see quite a few movies though, which is surprising for me, because I usually don’t see many. I also saw Interstellar, and Paddington, and I found both to be very good. I saw Love, Rosie (you may also like this one as it is based on a Cecelia Ahern book), which I really liked a lot.
I had quite a few favourite songs here and there but I think that most of 2014 was me discovering things that I used to love and then forgot about, and loved all over again.
